Oct | 21 | From Ruin to Reigning!

Key Word:- POWER

Title:- From Ruin to Reigning!

2 Samuel 10:25
Then Samuel explained to the people the behaviour of royalty, and wrote it in a book and laid it up before the LORD

Saul was Israel’s first ruling monarch. The prophet Samuel moved by the Holy Spirit had to explain to the new king and the people, just how royalty behaves itself including all of its demands, as well as all of its commands, all of its privileges and all of its procedures!

So it is with Christians. Once we come to Jesus, the Holy Spirit takes us and fully immerses us into His body, the church. So much so that we are thoroughly united to Him our Head and are regarded as actually seated with Christ in the heavenlies! Being then fully adopted sons of the Most High God, we should then be living like princes and not like paupers? However, we all know that presently, many of us are in the ruins of poverty and apathy, rather than reigning in the riches and dynamic of His great and glorious grace! We the ignorant, have so much to learn don't we? We the blind, have so much yet to see?

Jesus has ‘loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.’ Revelation 1:5-6  Wonderful! Why then dear friends are so much of heaven's royalty scratching around in the dirt and living like spiritual paupers? Why are the warrior kings of Jesus, those who are, because of Him, MORE THAN CONQUERORS through His love and His blood, slaughtered on the field and manacled in the dirty dungeons of doubting castle? Well, I am convinced that part of the problem is that we have not been taught to live like kings! Or if we have, then we have failed to put these things into practice and consequently we have not been spiritually formed. Consider this friend, that some of the disciplines of the Spirit for our spirit are indeed the basics of: Bible study, prayer, meditation, community, gatherings, joy, etc. All of these, though not an end in themselves, when spiritually practiced, take us to Jesus, who in turn teaches us to behave like royalty and who teaches us to live like kings! Now who wouldn’t want to live like that?

It was years ago when I was training at a local boxing gym that I saw the handwriting on the wall. Literally, there behind the swinging punch bag, daubed on the mouldy plaster were these true words,  “Failure to prepare? Prepare to fail!” Today then friends, look at the writing on your wall and prepare to face your spiritual formation like a boxer preparing for a big fight. Get ready to wage war, get fighting fit and live like warrior kings reigning on the earth! Come on! Get to it!

Listen:- And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:9-10

Pray: - Jesus help me! Lift me from my ash heap and teach me to live like Your son; teach me to live like more than a conqueror; teach me to live like a reigning king!
