Psalms 2:7-9 I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'" NKJV
God The Iconoclast

It was Spurgeon, commenting on Jeremiah 16:20, ‘Will a man make gods for himself, which are not gods?’ NKJV, who so poetically said that, “If Christians desire to grow thorns to stuff their sleepless pillows, then let them dote upon their dear ones.” In other words,

Do not let the family altar become the place of Baal, lest in the future you stuff your sleepless pillows with broken pieces, of thoroughly poker’d pottery. Do not make idols of neither your parents nor your children. Remember, “If Christians desire to grow thorns to stuff their sleepless pillows, then let them dote upon their dear ones.”
Listen: - Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalms 2:10-12 NKJV.
Pray:- ‘Above all others and all things, we love You O lord our God.’ Lord, we cast down our idols and ask you not to test and try us, in this our daily declaration. Amen.
