Dream Word – GOODNESS
Psalms 91:1-3 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler NKJV
The Secret Place, Suspicion & The Snare of The Fowler
The bird catcher’s accomplice, took the young and fluttering, previously plump and well fed, but now little and hungry, frightened little fowl and gripped it firmly in his rough and calloused, well-pecked, bloody hands. The fowler, then took the needle and thread, and holding the birds immobilized and near dead with fear and panicked head, closed its blinking and questioning eyes and sewed its eyelids tight together. The poor birds blind and terrified, squealing squawks for help, would attract flocks of other most curious fowl, who when in range, would have their legs broken beneath them, by the scything throwing sticks, whirled into the clucking crowd, whilst those attempting to escape, would have their livers pierced through, as the pointed arrows of the waiting bowmen would send their own sharp and shining sticks of death plunging into only the feather protected flesh. The blind bird, with eyelids sewn together, after hearing the scythe of sticks, the shots of sharp arrows and the shrieks of death all around him, would in his own blindness still, be eventually lifted from his baited place by the thankful and smiling fowler, only to have his neck summarily wrung and ripped from his shocked and quaking, blood soaked little body. It was dinner time at last.
So God presents us with some of the wiles of our enemy toward us, the flock of God. The enemy is out to get us and to devour us. Beware, shut up, sit up and listen up, for tonight, I need to tell you that there are only three things that shall keep us from the snare of the fowler.
First of all then, we shall be kept from the fowler's snare by dwelling in the secret place of the Most High. We all have our secret places, usually the sorry caves of Addulam into which we men retreat, but this secret place that we must seek and abide in, is the secret place of the Most High. The secret place, is that PERSONAL and INTIMATE one on one place of eyeball to eyeball, shoulder gripping, back and butt-slapping, close communion conference which is held in what seems to others, to be the hushed tones of a gossip. In the secret place, you are indeed, ‘gossiping’ to God and He is gossiping to you. The word ‘gossip’ might be misplaced here, yet the picture it paints for us is I feel, a most remarkably accurate one. For those looking on, do so from a distance and say to themselves, “What are they talking about over there?” Secret places after all, do breed suspicion and the gift of suspicion friends, is what we take from the secret place of the Most High. Don't get me wrong here, it's not that we breed suspicion in others, but rather we become highly suspicious concerning spiritual matters which previously eluded us. I do not use the word 'discernement' here, for I need you to take note. Let me explain, for this healthy suspicion, is a life saving one.
Yes, secondly, in the secret place of The Most high, God has quietly gilded our spirit with shining suspicion, and like the energy field of an electric eel, it crackles and spits, it pops and buzzes, when anything untoward comes within its boundaries. This kind of careful suspicion, is a gift from the secret place and its warning sights and sounds need to be most thoroughly heeded. Having been in the secret place, if you are suspicious about a thing, a person, a direction, an object, an offer, a contribution, anytheng! Then draw back. Stop, look and listen and if you still bubble and pop, fly away little bird, fly away from the fowler’s snare.
Birds unfortunately, are as daft as sheep, which I am sure is why they share the collected noun of ‘flock.’ So, I need to encourage you tonight that even when we silly sheep, we silly little birds, have been caught and damaged by the fowler, the sovereignty of God is not absent in its kind administration. For often, with only the loss of a few feathers, many an unsuspecting bird with many a thankful sigh, has slipped the fowlers snare, and frankly, not a few more captive and waiting for death, have been most gratefully released by the loving and sovereign hand of God.
If you perceive a panicked squawking, sewn up eyes, hidden sticks and the glint of sharp arrows, then heed the suspicion gained in the secret place and slip the fowlers snare. If you are caught tonight in that same mad and laughing fowlers stare, then cry to God Most High for His most sovereign of releasing. God is on your side. He shall surely come to your aid. This is the third and most important thing to remember.
Listen: - "If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, "Let Israel now say —"If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen watersWould have gone over our soul." Psalms 124:1-5 NKJV.
Pray:- Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. (Psalms 124:6-8 NKJV)
