Key Word:- PERSEVERE
Title:- A Piece of Fruit. A Fruit of Peace.
Hebrews 12:11
Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; Nonetheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
It was a gruesome sight. The bath was full of brown water! It hadn’t come out of the tap, but up from the drain. The smell, indicated precisely what the brown in the water was. Yuk!
So the plumber was called. Apparently the two toilets upstairs were blocked somewhere and the weird design of the old plumbing had rerouted the sewage up through the drain and into the bath. Try as he may, the plumber could not remove the blockage by going around the ‘U’ bend. Scratching his head, he said, “Nope, it’s no good we’re going to have to cut holes in the wall to get to the main pipe where I think the problem is. If needs be we may have to go through the wall in the kitchen, and that means taking down the cabinets. It’s going to be pretty messy but there is no other way. Once we’ve cleared the blockage, we’ll patch everything up again and you wont even know we’ve been here.” I didn’t believe him. I felt like a patient who’s just been told by his consultant that key hole surgery can’t fix the problem and “We’re going to have to go in, remove a couple of ribs, remove the blockage, reset the ribs, stitch the wound together and after that, well, you’ll feel much better.” Yeah, right!
God’s work is often painful. When He fixes us, He sometimes has to take the walls down and rip out the old pipes. It is a messy, disturbing, confusing, and painful business. However, there is no other way, for to continue to live with ‘the blockage’ will be limiting, debilitating, and down right unhealthy. It may even kill you! Getting fixed up by the Lord, is like eating a piece of bitter fruit.
Friends, the Father wants us to live without blockage, without the pain and in profound pleasantness of perfect peace with Him. He wants to heal us. He doesn’t just want us to suck on a piece of bitter fruit for nothing, oh no, in the end He wants to give us the fruit of a better peace.
Listen:- Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Psalm 34:8
Pray:- Despite my groaning, get to it O Lord. Got to it, get to it and ‘Git ‘R Dun!’ Oh Lord my God, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
