Key Word:- CONSIDER

Title:- Triple Whammy Without the Fries

Mark 8:23,24 So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.”

Bethesda was no longer worthy to see the wonderful works of God
for Jesus cries out and says to them, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.” Matthew 11:21. So Jesus takes the blind man by the hand and leads him outside of the town of Bethsaida to perform this mighty work of granting him sight. Disbelief always leads to loss of wonder. Remember that.

Maybe the blind man’s eyes were all gummed up and kind of glued together? So, Jesus spits in His eye, allowing His spittle to ooze between the closed lids and not only to make the opening of the matted eyelids less painful, but to also eek out some believing faith from the poor man’s heart as well. Jesus always aids our required believing. For this particular blind man, with the outworking of the miracle, restriction and darkness were now replaced by space and light. Then Jesus calls out a testimony from him asking in effect, “How am I doing? How are you doing?” and He receives a most unusual answer? “I see men as trees walking?”

People who have been blind for some time, sensually speaking, no longer live in a ‘space-time’ environment. They have lived for so long in just a ‘time’ environment that even when they regain their sight they are spatially confused. Russell Grigg from the organization ‘Answers in Genesis’ says, “They have formerly been used to a world they accessed only by touch, hearing, taste, and smell and so tend to be baffled by 'appearance' which, being optical, has no correlation in their other senses.” You see, well I hope you do, that when a person can perceive the basic elements of a familiar object or experience, but then cannot recognise them, it is classified as a clinical condition which doctors call agnosia. This condition takes a long time to correct, as often there is a need to develop new pathways in the visual cortex of the brain.

Friends, this man had received his sight! In the firt part of the miracle, the organs of the eyes were now functioning correctly, but the problem now was with his brain. Do you see that? Now, look what the Master does. In another instant, Jesus performs another two miracles involving a radical change in both the blind man’s neurological and psychological functioning, a change if you will in 'the perceptual habits and strategies of a lifetime'. Now that’s amazing! Can you see this friends? THE INTERTWINING AND INTERLEAVING OF THE DELICATE TISSUES OF MEN, SPACE AND TIME HAVE NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM FOR JESUS. The blind man is healed in his eyes, his brain and then in his psyche! Three miracles for the price of one! Yes sir, there are no lies, for here’s a ‘Triple Whammy’ without the salted fries.

If you have ever wondered, how God could restore those blind years of your life, which the locusts have eaten. Well in our text, right here, right now, you can clearly see how He does it. MIRACULOUSLY! When Christians spit in your face it can break your heart and wound your spirit, but when God grabs your head and spits in your eye dear friend, I encourage you to get excited rather than offended especially if you hear Him say to you, “Hey, How am I doin’? How are you doin’?” Mark my words, healing is a coming! For nothing is impossible for the Lord.

Listen:- Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Mark 8:25

Pray:- Lord, turn water into wine. Lord, get me to the other side in an instant. Lord, restore the years that the locust has eaten. Amen.
