Dec | 04 | Stop the youth work!

TURN

Stop the youth work!

Numbers 1:1-3
now the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying: "Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above — all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies. NKJV.

God is into accounting. He numbers the stars, the creatures of the air and even the hairs of our head. God
is an accountant. God is a stock taker. He balances the books and is the Logos of all things logistical. Interestingly then when God numbers His people, those who shall go in and fight and take the promised land, He numbers the men and not the women, and in particular, He numbers the men above the age of twenty who were able to go to war, the fit men if you will. Now then, when are you no longer fit to fight? Caleb and Joshua were still fighting and taking mountains in their eighties! However, they are, like it or not, for many reasons, the generational exceptions to the rule of physical degeneration. A general guide may be to look at the ‘retirement age of the Levites.” It was aged 50. It is not unreasonable then, to assume that God counted the strength of His armies by the number of fighting men aged between 20 and 50 years.

Let us now look at our churches in the West and use God’s accounting method, God’s logistical looking for churches that might do battle for Him. Let us look at our national churches run by mostly women and men who should be wearing skirts. Let us look at the numbers of men we have in our churches, spiritually fit men that is, aged between 20 and 50 years. Read these statistics friend, read them and weep.

It is a fact that most of our male youth leave the church aged around 20 years never to return. Yet still, we pile our hope and finances into Youth work. I have monitored the ‘Christian Job Boards’ for quite a few years at the beginning of this twenty first century and tell you now that the percentage of vacancies for full time Christian work is small, yet within that smallness, the vacancies for Youth work is very large. This is not just because it’s easier to pay peanuts to pimply young men who are just into long pants and still wet behind the ears and easy to control, but rather, it is the outworked expression of that forlorn and misguided hope that if we concentrate on the Youth, the hope of the church for the future in our lands (God help us), then we might just survive. There are a thousand things wrong with this concentration on failing Youth work but the chief one is this: God counts His armies as being fit young men aged between 20 and 50. Why then, is there no effort to convert (I speak as a man here), yes, to convert men in that age range? Why then is there no plan to train these then converted men for spiritual warfare? (We used to call this Biblical discipleship). Why then is there no focus on building up the armies of God according to His logistical accounting? Why are our ever-decreasing job boards not filled with vacancies for ministers to men? Why is the vast majority of monies not being piled into ministries toward men of a certain age? well, the answer to these questions this is simple: The church has been overrun with the politically correct spirit of the age and so much so, that what male leaders we have left, even within Evangelicalism, have neither those two important bits of ‘male tackle’ to address this issue, nor a willingness to embrace the clear Scriptural expression of male headship which runs so contrary to the world. We have sold out to the world and taken its rot to our beating heart not only owning it, but also propagating it, and so, even as society collapses all around us, so do we.

Large imported and well-branded major city churches not only mask the real issues of the failing churches in our land, but they also perpetuate them. So, at the time of my writing, 2013, is there any hope for the church in Britain and Europe? No, there is not. So, you sisters without husbands and children; weep on. You churches with ever-diminishing foot faltering grey heads ever wondering about whom you might hand the keys over too; weep on. You well trained ministers without a living and a pension plan; weep on. You Christian organizations surviving on your grandfathers donations now, weep on, weep on all! For now is the time of weeping.

True sorrow and the shock of it will either break us or it will make us and if it makes us, then the that true sorrow with ever running tears will have brought us a cleansing to the eyes and a frightening but fresh outlook on life. True sorrow with repentance, is the only thing that brings with it true hope, yes, true sorrow and real sight coupled with repentance, brings with it a determination and with that, a change in direction. True sorrow with Godly fear, you see, brings with it power. Most certainly, now is way past the time for the separation from all things which have brought this eye eating blindness upon us and to foster that long overdue separation, I wonder if today, the church should be calling for a time of sorrow, rather than perpetual pressing into of the dog like stupidity of an ‘Odie’ like, tongue flapping joy?

Listen:- “As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths." NKJV.. Isaiah 3:12 NKJV

Pray: - Father, Lord God of time, bless us once again and send us men. Jesus Lord of sorrows, send us eye salve and ministering servants to lay it on thick. Amen and amen.
