Non-stop through Hairsbreadth

Habakkuk 1:3,4
Why do You show me iniquity, And cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me; There is strife, and contention arises. Therefore the law is powerless, And justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore perverse judgment proceeds. NKJV

Thus far, Habakkuk has essentially asked God: “Why don’t you answer me?” And then also “Why don’t you punish the wicked now? Now, in the final part of his three part question the prophet, in the asking, also accuses God, saying in effect: “Why do you allow the continued perversion of Your law by Your lack of intervention?” In other words, “If you are God why don’t you do something.” Now then, has there ever been a more up to date question than this one, for I tell you, as a Pastor, I get asked this question many, many times.

Habbakuk, is shortly going to understand that God does not always exact immediate judgment, but from the time the station guard blows the whistle of God’s conviction, the judgment trains begins to run on two rails of parallel time. Lulling time allows the continuing concrete hardening of hearts. Loving time allows space for contrite spirits to turn in weeping repentance. These two types of time seem to run alongside one another in God’s economy , the longer rail curving the direction of the judgment train to one of two destinations of sentencing: The city of ‘Hairsbreadth’ or the city of ‘Destruction’. This train was heading to Destruction.

While we are here, it is of interest to note that one of the indicators of Lulling time is the surrounding of the righteous by the wicked such that all the products of politics are perversity. That is, there is a specific surrounding, a purposed enclosing and a bitter besieging of the righteous for the purpose of a strangulating overrunning. Look now at the politicians and their financial backers today, who have all 'salami sliced' their way to the core of our once imperfect but Biblical related pillars of society! Like runaway cancer, they have corrupted the lungs of our nation, bent double the upright, infected the brains of the ignorant and rotted the genitals of righteous reproduction. The city of Hairsbreadth has passed us by dear friends, and there is no health left in us and the bend in the track is coming to an end.

We must now prepare for a very different world of brutal unrighteousness to so speedily but temporarily come upon us. Are you prepared for this?

Pray: -  Lord, Your lulling time is coming to an end and all that is left is hardness of heart and the long shadow of a sign that says: ‘Work makes one free.’ Oh twist us back to the city off hairsbreadth and have mercy on us once more, O Lord our God and King. Amen and let it be so.
