Dream Word – GOODNESS

2 Samuel 7:1-3 Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around, that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains." Then Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you." NKJV

So David has at last found some breathing space and with it all a vast amount of thankfulness. This is natural for the Christian in that when time allows for both observation and reflection, thankfulness should arise within us. In David’s case this was an active thankfulness, not just politeness mind you, but a driving and seeking thankfulness which seeks to please the giver. That kind of thankfulness is both rare and special. I reckon it is this kind of thankfulness that tickles God’s heart. When was the last time you said, “What special thing can I do, just to show Him my thankfulness?”

So David, wanting to get it right, calls someone who is God’s powerful and vocal representative. Nathan. Now, Nathan is a man close to God, familiar with both God and with David. Nathan is also a man who lives and walks in that same familiarity, reception and discernment. That being the case, it is not unreasonable that Nathan should speak his heart, that he should speak out of his unfettered and uncluttered observation of both the material and spiritual realms. So a prophetic equation goes on in Nathan’s head and heart. Here it is:

God is with David + There is nothing wrong with the motive or the plan = JUST DO IT!

It’s great isn’t it? This equation is very Tom Jones like, you know, ‘It’s not Unusual!" Now, I want to put it to you that unless God had specific reasons, not made known to David or not yet made known to Nathan His prophet, then the conclusion of this equation would have been God’s will, yes, this would have been God’s plan and this would have been God’s permitted direction. Do you see the freedom in this? We do not have to go to God for permission to buy every bag of sugar. We just need to apply this very simple prophetic equation.

This spiritual math is of course is done in the wise context of a double or better still, a triple witness. So yes, go and seek out people of wisdom, power and prophetic insight, but let’s not get stupid about it all, for sometimes what comes forth from even a triune declaration is simply the confirmation of simple spiritual mathematics and there is nothing wrong with that and there is everything right about it!

Now wonder of wonders, it gets even better. For God later comes to Nathan and says, “Ahem, excuse me. Good words Nate me old mate, but there is a few things you don’t know about and neither does David, so, this is what I want you to go and do and say....” I love that, God Himself will instruct us when the right motives, intentions and practices of our hearts are contrary to His better will and plan for us. Isn’t that magnificent? Simple spiritual math is Divinely correctable. Isn’t that marvellous? Isn’t that freeing! When we have sought His pleasure and his will, then it is God’s responsibility to show us otherwise!

Now, if that wasn’t fine enough, God puts some icing on the cake for us tonight, for in the rest of the passage God in effect says to David “Don’t be upset about this change in plans, cause I am so cock a hoop by your heart’s desire, so blessed, so moved, that this is what I am going to do for you, right back at you Dave and a thousand times better! I’m gonna build you a house.” So, there you have it. Free direction, free correction and free blessing. Does is get any better than that? Stop freaking out so much about your choices! If your heart is right, your choices, even if wrong, will be lovingly corrected and blessed!

Listen: - Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Philippians 3:12-16 NKJV.

Pray:- Lord, it might not be Kosher but what a bacon sandwich of delight and with lettuce, mayo and ketchup all squeezed over the top. Thank You Lord for freedom, correction and blessing, in Jesus name I pray, amen!
