Dream Word – HAPPY

John 12:1-3 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. NKJV.

Of Soul Food, Tables & Smelly, Story Telling

For me, supper time is the best of times, especially if it is eaten with friends and dear ones. Supper food should be food to satisfy the longing of the day and food to prepare for the rest of the night, yes, supper should be soul food, comfort food, the food of coming rest.

There is nothing better to go with the eating of such soul food than a good bottle of table wine and a large helping of table tales, you know, stories of the day, stories of the past, stories that will last, and tonight, in the home of Simon the Leper, where Martha and Mary are preparing and a serving, Oh, what stories are a-brewing! Especially because Lazarus, recently back from the dead, is sat there itching to tell. Man! I tell you! I would have some questions for Lazarus around that table and if it was me, if I had come back from the dead, well, I would have some stories to tell as well! The sights the sounds the smells, the yells from hell I heard, the absurd thoughts I previously held, the swelling throng afore the gates, my mates I’d missed so long, the song of heaven, the hills like Devon, the custard yellow flowers, the hours and hours of rest, the.....well you get the picture! Problem is though Lazarus never gets a look in! Not a word! Not a dicky bird! Nope, it’s all about Jesus....Typical!

Whenever a born again person sits down to supper, it is like another Lazarus birthed from the grave, is sat down again to unexpectidly uncork once more, a fine bottle of love and life. It is good and right that testimonies and tales should abound at such tables of worth and mirth but I tell you, in the end, it is not about us but about Jesus, the unseen guest who always sits among us. Mary had it right. In great gratefulness, deep, profound and thankful, she worships Him who called her beloved Lazarus back from the darkness and such worship offered on bended knee, from a heart of broken thankfulness, will always fill the air, no, the whole dwelling place and beyond with the fragrance of expensive worship, worship that has cost us something, worship that has cost us much.

Tell me, what odours adorned your table talk this evening? What fragrance filled the air tonight?

Listen: - Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Psalms 100:1-4 NKJV.

Pray:- May my table O Lord, always smell of thankfulness to You my Saviour and my King. For forever and always O Lord, we have at least a hundred things to thank You for this night. Amen.
