Apr | 12 | Encompassed by Cucumbers

Key Word:- CONSIDER

Title:- Encompassed by Cucumbers

Isaiah 1:8 So the daughter of Zion is left as a booth in a vineyard, As a hut in a garden of cucumbers, As a besieged city.

Unless you’re Vega-phobic and have been left bound and tied and open-eyed in the ‘Fruit and Veg’ section of the local supermarket, you would think that being surrounded by vegetables would not be such a terrible thing. Normally of course it isn’t, unless being encompassed by cucumbers is a metaphorical predicament which is actually indicative of something completely different and far more frightening!
So, in this cucumbic analogy, God wasn’t interested in the particular objects, just the overall image of being isolated, even overwhelmingly surrounded and hemmed in.

Prophetic pictures are like other works of art, where the individual items often mean nothing by themselves, but speak volumes when seen as part of the whole. However, as this statement is not true of every work of art, neither is it true of every prophetic image! Sometimes the intricacies mean to say more than the whole (just to keep you on your toes). Yes, both art and prophecy take discernment of vision to understand what’s really being said. Do you see that?

God speaks in living pictures to us today, in the prophetic providences of our every day lives. Maybe then in our text for today, there is a key here into how we can understand what is happening when we feel ‘cumbered about?’ You know, when we are prevented from achieving our objectives and our goals, or from fulfilling our desires. Numerous things may be contributing to such blocking, such hemming in, but we may get totally misled, side-tracked and consumed when we try to focus on each individual cu-cumbering obstacle. Look up friends, look around and try and see the whole picture. The message from God, may well be lying in the overall view?

Maybe that enigmatic Australian singer, ‘wobble boardian’ animal lover, poet and artist, Rolph Harris is sometimes ‘prophetic’, when producing a picture, quickly turns and smiles asking us, “Can you tell what it is yet?” If you are cumbered about today, look around and see the bigger picture.

Listen: - Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” Jeremiah 1:11

Pray: - Father, open my eyes, that I might hear Your voice speaking to me today, in Jesus name I ask it, Amen.
