Feb | 02 | Our True Selves in the Saviour, Purged Pleasing and Perfectly Pink

Key Word:- CLEAN

Title:- Our True Selves in the Saviour, Purged Pleasing & Perfectly Pink.

Hebrews 1:3 when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

I drank a whole gallon of medication just twenty-four hours before a colonoscopy. The latter was an easy and heavily drugged experience compared to the former! The product I hastily imbibed was called ‘Nulytely’ and was quite simply a bowel scourer, providing fast cleansing of the gastrointestinal tract. The fact it comes in three flavours and does not taste too bad is of little consequence when the world starts to fall out of your bottom!

‘Nulytely’ provides a complete and exhaustive cathartic experience. Now, my picture may be getting a little too graphic for some of you……so I shall stop there. I think you’ve got the thorough picture of purging I intended to paint for you. Let me tell you, after this kind of purging you really do need to have a good lie down!

The word ‘purged’ here in Hebrews 1:3 in the way I have begun describing, also carries with it an understanding of a deep, cleansing force. It is the Greek word ‘Katharismos’ from which we get our English word, Catharsis, literally ‘a purification that brings release, cleansing, and spiritual renewal.’ Cathartic purging! What a relieving picture!

In vicious violence, in bloody torment, in ripping flesh amidst the raucous laughter of the doomed darkness, Jesus, once and for all, has washed away our sins forever. He has released captivity, refreshed the thirsty and re-birthed the dead back into His gloriously clean, Kingdom of light. So much so, that our position is now eternally secure and wonderfully clean. Our condition is quite simply now, bleached white in the bloody red washtub of God! In addition to this once and for all cathartic purging of our sin, the spirit cleansing sanctification still continues anew each day, as God the Holy Spirit Himself, reaches deep into our hearts and raises up the brokenness that we might be healed and released further into our position in Jesus, our true selves in the Saviour, which is, purged, pleasing and perfectly pink.

Listen: -There is a fountain filled with blood, drawn from Emmanuel’s veins, and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.

Pray: - The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day; and there would I as vile as he, wash all my sins away. Wash all my sins away O Lord, wash all my sins away. Jesus, thank you for the Cross, thank you for the Cross, my friend!
