Title:- Sparks From a Bad Fire

Joshua 5:12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.

It had been a long journey for this motley crew from Egypt, following the pillar of burning fire! Forty years of wandering in the wilderness had finally ended, though a whole repentant and yet unbelieving generation had to die in the process before their children could enter the land of promise. Of the original tribal representatives sent to ‘spy out’ the Promised Land all those unbelieving years ago, only Caleb, a strong and courageous lion’s whelp from the tribe of Judah, would believe and survive. The writer of Hebrews commenting on the dead generation that did not enter the land at that first opportunity says this to us today Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;” (Hebrews 3:12)

You see, all of the twelve original scouts sent to investigate the Promised Land returned safely and successfully to give their report. All had seen the same gigantic men and cities, the fierce people and seeming impossible odds, but only Caleb had said, “let us go up for we are well able to overcome it.” The other eleven spies however, responded saying, “we are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” The congregation as usual, believed the majority. No amount of clothes tearing, and earnest entreaty from Caleb or Joshua the assistant to Moses, could change their minds. From a spirit of fear, the multitude had received a spark of disbelief and had fanned it into such a flame that it consumed the nation in utter defeated and hopelessness.

Without the imploring of Moses, God would have wiped them out in an instant. He was shall we say, a little annoyed! Instead, God decided that none of that generation would be allowed to enter into the promise, none that was, except Caleb, who having seen the same as the other eleven spies, nonetheless saw it with a different spirit.

Friend, before Almighty God I ask you; what ails you, what fails you, in possessing your land today? What’s wrong for goodness sake with the eyes of your spirit? Get it changed McGoo! Else we might just have to McGo into the land without you!

Listen: -Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Pray: - Lord, I believe. You, yes I believe You! So please come and clear the fuzz of my unbelief, to clear eyes of seeing faith, in Jesus name I pray it, amen!
