Key Word:- PEACE

Title:- Secret Ways & Hidden Paths

Psalm 77:19 Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, And Your footsteps were not known.

I don’t know if you noticed, but in the trilogy production of Tolkien’s Books, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ there is an awful lot of imagery around doorways. It begins with the door to a hobbit house and ends with a shot of that very same door. In addition to this, the story is full of secret passageways traversing up and over mountains and even through them. I particularly remember the hidden door of ‘Durin’ which led to ‘Khazad-dum,’ the domain of the dwarves, the doorway of which could only been seen in moon light. The second film portrayed most fearfully, both the mystique and danger of approaching these particular doors, for they had monsters outside and death inside!

Yet, I remember Browning’s children’s poem, ‘The Pied Piper of Hamblin’ and find the abduction of the children of Brunswick to be far more malevolent than many things in Tolkien’s Trilogy.

And to Koppelberg Hill his steps addressed,
And after him the children pressed;
Great was the joy in every breast.
“He never can cross that mighty top!
He's forced to let the piping drop,
And we shall see our children stop!”'
When, lo, as they reached the mountain-side,
A wondrous portal opened wide,
As if a cavern was suddenly hollowed;
And the Piper advanced and the children followed,
And when all were in to the very last,
The door in the mountain-side shut fast.

NOW THAT’S SCARY!
Friends it’s not only the nasty that have their secret pathways. You will be pleased to know that God also has His hidden ways, His secret paths, His ways of escape, His places of refuge. Ask Noah about the door being shut on the Ark, ask Obadiah how he hid and protected the hundred prophets, ask David, ask Moses, ask Paul, ask a thousand others, even the millions of Israel who in a desert place came to the waters edge and worried and wept to find themselves boxed in by water and mountains and an angry oncoming Pharaoh. Worried that was, until God opened up a prepared way, a secret and hidden path, a way not previously known, beneath the foaming waters where they all crossed over on dry land!

Today friends, as you face your violent seas and your enormous mountains, know this, and know this for sure; though you might not see it, before you yet, lays a prepared path, a hidden way of escape, a secret place of refuge. At the right time it shall be revealed to you. Look for it. Ask God for clarity of sight. Look for God’s secret paths, look for God’s hidden ways.

Listen:- No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

Pray:- Lord, mighty Master, reveal to me your secret ways, your dry path through the raging seas and the firmness on which to place my following and fearful feet.
