Key Word:- FIGHT
Title:- Faith in The Forger
Joshua 7:1-5 Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the country.” So the men went up and spied out Ai. And they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few.” So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai. And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore the hearts of the people melted and became like water.
Mere bravado and self confidence does not constitute pre-battle intimidation. If you have not trained, if you do not know your enemy, if you have not walked wisely and obediently in your preparation, such ignorant bravado is but mere stupidity.
David, the ruddy young man, was no doubt fearful in approaching Goliath of Gath. Yet his heart was in the trim because his method and weapons were tried and tested, “Your servant used to keep his father's sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” (1 Samuel 17:34-36).
David was ready! You see, the intimidation and mocking of our enemies before the battle, the shaping and shattering of hearts before a stone is thrown or a sword is swung is not mere bravado. It must come from the fact that we have already thoroughly tried, trained and tested what we are about to use. We know the strength and value in what God has given us to fight with.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, BUT MIGHTY! Do you know that? Have you felt the shuddering impact of a weapon of God used by you against His enemy? More than this though friends, our confidence must be in more than the weapon and the known wielding. Our faith must be in the Forger of such weapons. “Moreover David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:37
Now many of you, not only do not have a clue about what I am speaking of, but may also find my use of fighting words deeply troubling and against what you believe to be the mind of Christ? May I encourage you to examine the Scriptures and find the Christ of the Scriptures. He is the Commander of God the Father’s magnificent Hosts of angel armies. He is the ultimate warrior and He’s engaged in a tremendous conflict with the great enemy. He was dead, but now is alive and He’s coming soon to bring a sword of flaming judgment to the earth!
Intimidate, mock and make the enemy shake, make the darkness tremble friends, don’t just sing about it but DO IT! However, do make sure that such talk and dancing is not mere bravado rooted in a big mouth and a bombastic untried head and heart! Let thorough preparation, knowledge of self and intimacy with the Almighty God, clothe your words with steely strength, both today, and in all the days to come.
Listen:- Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. (Revelation 19:11-16 )
Pray:- Lord, help me to live in the reality of who You are. Teach me how to kick some enemy ass, in Your great name I pray. Amen.
