The Legend of Omega Man
Richard Matheson a former WWII Infantry soldier turned writer actually penned a number of episodes of the famous 'Twilight Zone,' and is a most prolific writer, having many of his novels turned into films. I suppose his most abiding writing however, is the one that has produced so far three films and was written in 1954 and is called 'I am Legend.' The other two films are 'The Last Man on Earth' and 'Omega Man.'
The Omega Man, starring Charlton Heston, is most important to me, as it was the only movie which both my parents ever took me to see! Despite the fact that all three movies stray from the original novel in many respects, they maintain one consistent theme and that is "The Redemption of Mankind by the shed blood of one man."
Blood, sacred. Blood, prohibited as food. Blood, containing the life. Shed Blood, to be avenged. Sprinkled blood, the splattering sign of covenant. Protective blood. Lintel dripping death protecting blood. Crying blood, condemning, seeking justice. Yes friends, the covers of the Bible should never be calf smooth black, but sticky red, its pages sodden with red, irrigated with rivulets of red running down each dotted 'i,' dripping off curly ended 'y's pooling in the guts of 'g's and smiling in pages 'p's', for the witness of Scripture is clear in that blood is equated with but one thing and that is, 'life given up in death!' Blood is the theme of the Bible. Into an infected world Jesus came, pure and lovely seeking the lost, intent on birthing life amongst the dead. Against unrelenting evil He came and at last shed His blood for our redemption. In short, remember this tonight, that Christ gave His life in death for the whole world, for His church and for You. He did all that, for you. He did that for me. In this, He is Legend, He is the last Adam, the Omega man who made it all right in the end!

Pray:- Because of the blood of your covenant, set the prisoners free from the waterless pit. May all the prisoners of hope return to the stronghold of Your love and hear You declare even today that You will restore double to us all. For You have bent Judah, Your bow, fitted the bow with Ephraim, and raised up Your sons, O Zion and set them against the enemies of Your blood. Be seen over us O God, let loose Your arrows, let them go forth like lightning. Amen! NKJV (from Zech 9:11 onwards)
