Jan | 16 | Pumped Up Accordion Players

Key Word:- PERSEVERE

Title:- Pumped Up Accordion Players

Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

To be in accord, is ‘to bring into agreement; or to be consistent in harmony.’ In 1822 in Berlin, Friedrich Buschmann, inventor of the harmonica, also patented a prototype accordion using buttons rather than keys. The accordion, a portable musical instrument, uses a hand-pumped bellows and two keyboards either side of those bellows, which effectively resemble individual reed organs. To make a sound, air flows over small metal tongues which then vibrate!

So, returning from Olivet, with a glimpse of resurrection power, an open heaven and even an angelic visitation, the disciples now arrive in Jerusalem and being found in pumped up, button pressing joyful one accord, they all begin humbly in asking God to give them ‘the promise’. Do you remember that He told them to wait for it?

The last recorded words of Jesus were in Acts 1:8 when He says “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” That’s what they were asking for friends; ‘the promise of power to be witnesses!’

For some time now, all through the disquiet of the day and the quiet of the night, right up until the day of Pentecost they had remained together in pumped up, button pushing one accord. All still asking in happy and hopeful united and expectant harmony, for the promise of the Father, that Jesus said would come upon them in Jerusalem and blow me down friends, blow me down I say, for like a rushing mighty wind, the Holy Spirit came just as promised! This time not blowing over tongues of metal but rather, blowing mightily over tongues of flesh and causing them to vibrate with the sounds and proclamation of the wonderful works of God! Pentecost had come at last!

The church today surely needs this same power to witness! So let me ask you, “Do you want it friends?” If so, get an accordion of fellow believers together and start pumping those prayerful and expectant bellows. Ask for the power to witness. You know? Just keep that harmonious supplication going and then watch out, because God may just come and rock your world and in doing so, change the world in which you live!

Ahhh the sound of power pouring over tongues of flesh! There's nothing like it is there? There’s nothing like it I say!

Listen: - “how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13b

Pray: - Father, give me the power of Your presence. Yes Father, give me a fresh wind and a fresh fire in my bones today. Wake me from the dead with a fresh wind My God accompanied by this same undisputable power, pouring over my tongue and out of my mouth! In Jesus name I ask it, Amen!
