Jan | 14 | M.I.W.2 (Men in White II)

Key Word:- CONSIDER

Title:- M.I.W.2 (Men in White II)

Acts 1:10, 11 "And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven?...”

Remember, though disguised as ‘mere men’ in our text for today, these angels never the less had seen the now risen and triumphant Lord of heaven and earth on His throne, as well as the vast and innumerable worshipping and joyful congregation of the Most High. They had seen the stones of fire, the living creatures, indeed, all the wonders of heaven had filled their gaze for unknown aeons! No trilogy of other worlds or middle worlds could begin to fantasize and express the wonders of their angelic realm, as well as the continuing viciousness of their terrible war, now finally coming, even now, yes even as I speak, yes even as I write, towards its swift and definite conclusion. So, what were these magnificent creatures disguised as mere men, now doing here with the disciples? Were they bodyguards of the ascension? Were they God’s Special Air Service, God’s angelic Seals, the Archangel Michael’s Green Berets maybe? Who knows? Their recorded mission here and now however is very clearly seen and that is to: ‘Close open jaws, and open closed hearts to the glorious fact of the return of The Lord Jesus Christ, their personal Commander in Chief.’

Now observe how these aliens from another dimension addressed the disciples. Not as “Sons of the Most High,” not as “Apostles of the living God,” not as “Devoted Disciples,” not as “Beloved of the Lord.” Nope! No rootin' tootin' high falootin' titles at all. Just plain old “Men of Galilee, y’all listen up now!”

You see angels, though they be ever so presently magnificent compared to us, have not had the commission of the Commander in Chief committed to them. No sir, The Father has not committed the task of telling the good news of Jesus to angels! Let us never forget that. No, it is our mission, it is our very own commission to mere men and women of Galilee as it were, to carry this great treasure in our hearts and sport it on our lips and we must, we must, somehow rejoice in the crazy fact that we have this treasure of the glorious good news of Jesus Christ encased in earthen jars, cracked pots and broken vessels. Is it not an honour then, is it not a wonder and a necessity, that we simple ‘men of Galilee,’ should be entrusted with such a task? Yes it is and entrusted we have been and as earthen vessels carrying this treasure, we have no excuses to ‘stay and ‘shutty’ ’ for we are commanded by the risen Son Himself to now “Go, Show and Tell!”

So this encouragement, comes to all who yearn for Jesus and look eagerly for His return. Whoever you are, mere men of Brighton, mere men of Louisville, men of Hollywood, men of Ethiopia, men of America, you mere and marvellous men of Galilee. “He’s coming soon! So get on with what He’s told you to do!” Go, Show and Tell!

Listen: - But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 2 Cor 4:7

Pray: - Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth. So help us now dear Lord Jesus in Your great power to go now, to go show and to go tell. Amen. (Psalm 115:1)
